I wouldn’t have thought of this. I’ll have to try this next time mine freezes.
Do you know why the cable matters? I’d think a partially broken circuit in the cable could cause a freeze, but I wonder whether the cable length or material of the wire matter.
I would guess the rpi’s needs are more time-sensitive and demanding than a normal usb device, so cables that squeaked passed QA for lesser devices may not be up to par.
Random thoughts from someone not qualified to give them, though.
